Bro. Ray Smith for International First Vice President

Greetings Brothers,

I pray that this message finds each of you in the best of health. In less than a month, each of you will be asked to make an important decision in Detroit. I only ask that as your chapter goes through it’s deliberations that you make the best-informed decision for Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

I decided to become a candidate for this position, because I believe my current and past leadership experiences makes me the most qualified person for this position. Many of my brothers consider me as the oldest collegiate, because of my passion to assist our collegiate brothers. My motto “Sigma is You” is based on the premise that in order to move this fraternity to greater heights, I will need each of YOU to make it happen. You are the greatest asset. I believe that your voice, talents, experiences, leadership are needed, to move the pendulum.

Here is where I will need YOU! According to the constitution, the position of International First-Vice President is responsible for developing strategies on Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation of the members, maintaining statistical data on chapter membership, developing and revising recruitment and membership brochures and forms, reviewing intake process annually for recommended changes and developing procedures and time periods for certification and training in membership intake and chapter operations, reviewing membership services, and performing such other duties assigned to the committee by the General Board and Conclave.

My platform address all the areas listed and I’m more than qualified to carry of the duties described. The leadership experiences that I’ve held on the local, state, regional and international levels have more than prepared me. As past Regional Director for the Southern Region, under my direction we were the first region to break the 2000 member mark. This was done through a strategic approach, involving everyone in the process and using the guidelines established by YOU. I will use this same type of approach, by listening to the stakeholders….YOU. Because you are the #1 resource in Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

In Detroit, I humbly ask for your support and influence as I seek the position for 1st Vice International President of this great fraternity.

Respectfully Submitted,
